Tenders are invited for the following
WW1 commemorative piece of art
This project was first discussed at the WW1 commemorations working group in 2018 and the tender and evaluation process will be managed by them. This steering group is made up of representatives from various key groups in Beaconsfield namely Beaconsfield & District Historical Society, Churches Together, The Beaconsfield Twinning Association, The Beaconsfield Society, Hall Barn, Air, Army and Police Cadets, our Town Crier/British Legion and Beaconsfield Town Council. This Steering group will also be responsible for raising the necessary funds to pay for this piece of art.
During WWI there was a munitions factory that existed in London End (now Dunlop’s).
To celebrate this historic piece of Beaconsfield History, it was agreed to commission a WW1 statue on a plinth. The aim of this piece of art is to provide a positive change to the community, as it would provide added cultural and historic interest celebrating the role of the Town during WWI. This will be for the enjoyment of all in the town & passers-by. It will of course be of particular significance for those remembering fallen loved ones in any conflict.
To produce a finished piece of Art to be situated in a public place in the old town of Beaconsfield. As part of the Town’s WW1 commemorations this piece is to link to the munitions factory.
Tenders need to include:
- A design drawing of the sculpture including scale and cost
- details and indicative costs including the manufacture, materials and timescales of the sculpture
- details and indicative costs including the manufacture, materials and timescales of the plinth
- to include commission and manage production of the statue
- to arrange and manage installation of the finished piece.
Tenders will be evaluated on price and quality of design options and an overall value for money solution.
All submissions received assume agreement to this brief. All time or costs incurred to submit a bid is at the total cost and risk of the tenderer. (Costs related to siting the piece of Art such as planning permission is not part of this tender and will be dealt with separately).
